PDFD & Berea

While I was on my way to take pictures at Southern Squad School Sunday morning, the Parker District Fire Department was toned off for a residential structure fire. In my mind, I knew I had committed to Chief McCarley that I’d come to Woodruff and take photos of their training… But I also knew he’d be the first to tell me to make a U-turn and document these guys doing work.

So, that’s what I did! I turned the truck around and arrived fourteen minutes after the original call was dispatched, but I was too late. They had already extinguished the fire and were in the process of mopping up, hitting hotspots, and helping the homeowner retrieve medications.

In fourteen minutes, on a Sunday morning, Parker and Berea responded quickly to a call, executed what they were trained to do, and worked together to serve the citizens that live in their community. — That’s the kind of stuff I’m proud to document and share.

I know a lot of these guys in the photos you’ll see, and I’m proud to call them friends. This is what it’s all about!! #HonorBeforeDeath
